    • Practice writing a ‘T’ chart where you practice mindfully describing what you observed vs. what interpretations and thoughts showed up about what you observed - ideally with a parent-teen interaction

    • Write down evaluative judgments that show up throughout the week on a list

    • Identify what interferes in being effective (using Effectively skill) with your parent/teen

    Weekly Skills Practice: 

    • Diary Card

    • Complete Interpersonal Effectiveness Handout 22A “Identifying Effective Behavior Change Strategies” (p. 164).

    • Complete Interpersonal Effectiveness Worksheet 14 and 15 (p. 194-195). Practice reinforcing 1 behavior and extinguishing 1 behavior. Identify 2 reinforcers.

    • Review Interpersonal Effectiveness Handout 9 (p. 134-135) and identify which section frequently interferes during interactions

  • Class Date: January 15, 2024

    Module: Distress Tolerance

    Skills:  Radical Acceptance, Turning the Mind, Half-Smile and Willing Hands

    Weekly Skills Practice: 

    • Diary Card

    • Come up with 2 accepting phrases you can use.

    • Pros and Cons for Accepting Reality vs. Rejecting Reality.

    • Practice Half Smile and Willing Hands 3 times and fill in about your practice on Worksheet 11, p. 397.

    • Practice cope ahead at least twice of what you are going to do when nonacceptance shows up.
